About
I'm Amaris. I write about the places that make a city feel like home.
About Us Media is where I put the neighborhood walks, the small businesses I love, the weekends worth planning, and the people behind all of it. Some of it is writing, some of it is photos and video, most of it starts with a conversation.
How it started
It started as a personal blog in Syracuse. I wrote about the events I went to, the small businesses I kept returning to, and the little community moments I didn't want to forget. I didn't expect anyone to read it.
Syracuse read it. People showed up. It stopped being a blog and started being a group of people who wanted the same thing, to actually know their city.
In 2026 I moved the writing to Boston. Syracuse is still here, every word of it, because it's where all of this came from. Now I'm doing the same thing in a new city, and slowly across the rest of New England.
Same person, same notebook, new neighborhoods.
How I work
A few things I hold to.
People before posts.
I write about a place because of who's behind it, not because it's having a moment online. If the story only works as content, it isn't a story yet.
Syracuse stays.
Everything I published in Syracuse is still here. It's where I learned how to do this, and deleting it to look bigger would be a lie.
Small businesses come first.
Owners, makers, and organizers are the whole reason I started writing. They don't have a marketing budget, and they shouldn't need one to be worth a story.
I'll always tell you.
If something is paid, it says so. If I didn't love it, you'll know. You should be able to trust a recommendation from me the way you'd trust one from a friend.
Say hello
Got a place I should know about?
If you run a shop, organize something, or just love a spot nobody writes about — tell me.
